Marina Lifestyle Community
Hawaii Kai is a master planned community built by industrialist Henry Kaiser in the early 1960s. An ancient fishpond and marsh lands were transformed into a marina, providing marina front living and easy access to a variety of water sports and boating. Over the years the Hawaii Kai region expanded to include notable neighborhoods Portlock, Koko Kai, Mariner’s Cove, Napali Haweo, and Queens Gate, which is a gated community built on the Hawaii Kai Golf Course.
Hawaii Kai offers mostly single family and townhomes, but there are also condominiums with great views and amenities. Commercial properties are limited in number and selection. Like the Diamond Head region, Hawaii Kai residents are a mix of long-time Hawaii families as well newcomers from all over the world. There are also some celebrities and business moguls who have bought vacation homes in the area.
